Happy Holidays!

December 2018

With the new year quickly approaching, we’re reminiscing on all the fun events and programs shared with you at River District this past year. Thank you for joining us and making each event a success.

Last month, we celebrated Diwali with a kids craft session where we decorated diyas (clay lamps) and enjoyed Indian food and sweets. We also kicked off the holiday season with a Christmas cookie decorating themed Ladies Night and a holiday kids craft session where parents and kids made their own beautiful Christmas cards. We are hosting more holiday themed events at the River District Neighbourhood Centre, find out details at our Events Page.

With the Holiday Season here, we are happy to welcome Aunt Leah’s Christmas Trees to Town Centre. Aunt Leah’s Place is a charity that helps foster youth, moms and babies, they’ll be selling trees in support of that mission from now until December 23rd. If you’re looking for a place to help out this season, they’re also looking for volunteers.

From all of us here at the River District Neighbourhood Centre, we would like to wish you and your family a safe and prosperous holiday season. Looking forward to seeing you in 2019!

RIVER DISTRICT NOVEMBER FLASHBACK

DIWALI KIDS CRAFTS

We celebrated Diwali, India’s largest festival of lights, with a special kids craft session. We brightened up a gloomy November day by decorating our very own diya’s, enjoying delicious traditional foods and learning about the history of this popular celebration.

Thank you to our friends at Westminster Savings for helping us celebrate diverse multiculturalism at the River District by providing the materials and delicious food for this event!

LADIES NIGHT: CHRISTMAS COOKIE DECORATING

We began the holiday festivities with a Christmas cookie decorating session. Our wonderful baker extraordinaire Kim prepared an assortment of gingerbread cookies for the ladies to decorate. Not only did the cookies look wonderful, but they tasted just as delicious.

Next month, we will be putting our new years resolutions to paper by creating vision boards that will help us keep our new year goals in mind for the remainder of the new year!
