The Boom Booms are one of Vancouver’s most beloved local bands whose smooth, soulful funk electrify fans from all over the world and we are so excited to have them play at our very first Savour Summer event this Saturday July 21st at River District Vancouver.
The five-piece band consisting of brothers Aaron Ross (lead vocals), Sean Ross (keys), Tom Van Deursen (guitar), Geordie Hart (bass) and Theo Vincent (Drums) grew up in East Van yet attained the unequivocally Latin-inspired sound of their first record, 2011’s ¡Hot Rum!, through adventures traveling in Central America.
The Boom Booms are also inspired by a vast array of legendary talent including Bob Marley, Otis Redding, Wyclef Jean, Stevie Wonder, Neil Young and Van Morrison. Most recently they have taken interest in dancehall and reggaetón, contributing to their most current sound – pop/funk with a roots, folk and Caribbean vibe.
Despite taking their musical inspiration from far away places, Vancouver is always the most special place for The Boom Booms for many of the same reasons it is for us – the close proximity to so much nature – our amazing rivers, lakes and mountains. And Vancouver certainly loves The Boom Booms right back.
Make sure to catch The Boom Booms playing a free show this Saturday, July 21st at Savour Summer, right here at River District Vancouver’s Town Centre. Visit www.riverdistrict.ca/savoursummer for more event details.
