March 2019 Community Newsletter

March 2019

Taking a cue from Marie Kondo’s ‘Tidying Up’, we are happy to present out first Book Swap here in River District. Time to clean out the bookshelves and trade in your old books for something new. March is also National Nutrition Month and we welcome Dr. Amneet and Todd, authors of N is for Nutrition, and Corinne, Registered Dietitian, to teach us about nutrition for good health through a reading of their book.

To continue our celebration of Spring and cherry blossom season, we have a special Wine Wednesday with Everything Wine featuring sake and soju, two very distinct spirits that are gaining popularity. If you love wine, try sake and soju for complex flavours and a unique food pairing. For Ladies Night, we’re hosting a Chocolate Tasting and Pairing. It appears that March is becoming food and beverage month!

We’re thrilled to announce that Save-On-Foods will be open starting Friday April 5th. Plus, we welcome our newest Town Centre retail neighbours, Vic and Gurinder of River District Physio. There’s always something happening #downbytheriver.

RIVER DISTRICT FLASHBACK

A look back at some of the fun had at River District.

Wine Wednesday with Everything Wine

Everyone agreed that they were happy for the return of Wine Wednesday with Everything Wine and the first session of 2019 was educational too. As we played the guessing game of determining the higher priced wines versus the lower priced wines, we also learned about the characteristics of each wine that came into play. Our fabulous instructor Kris provided an excellent selection of wines to sample and ponder over. We also noticed that many of the selected wines were gone from the shelves when some of us wanted to purchase one or two to take home.

Family Fun Day Sunday – Family Paint Session

With our busy schedules and endless activities, it’s often hard to get the family together. Family Fun Day Sunday on the last Sunday of the month is perfect for a family play date. On the last session, we had a Family Paint Session to channel our inner Monet or Jackson Pollock. The results were pretty impressive with an artistic interpretation of the northern lights or milky way. A big thanks for Vida, local artist and resident for guiding us through this fun and artistic process.
