We know the story all too well – we wait all year for summertime, and then it comes and goes in the blink of an eye. Before you know it, it’s fall and all you have left is a fading tan and the memories of summer. But don’t worry, we’re here to help you make the most of the fleeting summer months. So, mark your calendars because Savour Summer is back and better for its second year running. We had so much fun last year, we just had to do it again. This year, our FREE events are back with more interactive entertainment, live music and food trucks. Get out your sunglasses and get ready to savour the summer with us!
On July 13, August 10 and September 7, our Savour Summer events will be going down from 2 to 6 p.m. in the Town Centre of River District Vancouver.
The first of the three events is happening on Saturday, July 13. With appearances from Shine Davine’s acrobatic circus and BC’s premiere award-winning entertainer, Yeeri The Magician, you won’t be able to take your eyes off of these acts. Like music? We’ve got that too! Headlining the first event is the, one and only, Oot n’ Oots. Nominated by the Canadian Folk Music Awards and The Western Canadian Music Awards, The Oot n’ Oots specialize in kindie rock, which is “kids’ music that won’t drive parents around the bend.” It’s indie, folk music that the whole family can enjoy! The Okanagan-based quintet is bringing their original vocals and music to a handful of festivals this summer and we’re so excited to see them at Savour Summer.
The fun doesn’t stop there. The rest of the summer is packed with more festivities and fun for everyone. On August 10, we’re calling all local beer and wine lovers! We’ll be featuring a beer and wine garden so you can enjoy some beverages while all the action happens around you. The Boom Booms will be headlining this event and if you saw their show last year, you know you won’t want to miss out on their performance this year. As an alternative-soul band based in Vancouver, B.C., they always bring their a-game and we just can’t get enough.
The last event is sure to ease those back to school blues. We’ve got a fully stocked line-up, so you can truly savour the last moments of summer. On September 7, The Katherines, a modern pop trio based in Vancouver, Ginalina, a West Coast family singer & songwriter, Kutapira, a funky percussion ensemble from East Vancouver, and more will hit the stage to say a proper farewell to summer.
Each event will feature different activities, including free cupcake decorating, face painting, wine tastings a bouncy castle and so much more. With three dates spanning over the summer, you have multiple opportunities to savour the summer fun with us at River District Vancouver. Stay tuned to our Facebook page and our website to get all the details. See you there!
